Freedom of Speech as a Blogger :)
Freedom of speech is the right to have the freedom of expressing thoughts, feelings, opinions, and ideas, without being punished for it in any way and with no harm being done to you. But there are limits and boundaries to the concept of having the freedom to speak. Libel is not tolerated in the perception of freedom of speech, and if there’s an accusation of posting or saying libel in anyway, the punishment goes into the law’s hands. There are many ways of putting freedom of speech to use, like through simple dialogue, between you and one person, or a whole group of people. Also, there’s the media, like internet or magazines and news. Magazines, TV, news all follow the idea of freedom of speech, some, like talk shows, put their opinions in it, while others avoid putting opinions and just state the facts. A type that’s used today a lot by many people, from different ages, is Blogging, which really uses freedom of speech in the process.
To have a blog, means you have an online “personal journal”. A blog is a website that gives a person the opportunity to have a public diary of their lives, that’s typically updated often. You talk about your opinion on many topics and your thoughts and of course of what you’ve done so far during the day. As well as that, it also allows you’re voice be heard worldwide, no matter where you live.
There is definitely a connection between blogging and freedom of speech. To blog, you’re going to need the right of freely speaking, so then you write what you want, and go unharmed. That doesn’t go to the blogger only; it can go to anyone who decides to comment as well. They all are speaking freely, defending and stating information about the topic. But what people don’t think about in a heated discussion, that there are limits and god knows what could happen if the law sees what you’ve written, especially if it’s insulting them. For example, a young Chinese blogger, blogged against the Chinese government, but then his blog got shut off. Another example of crossing the boundaries of freedom of speech as a blogger is a young South Korean blogger who got arrested for writing false statements about the economy there.
So, overall, freedom of speech is about freedom but it has its boundaries, which in my opinion, is a good thing, so someone doesn’t go too far and insults many people. But it shouldn’t have boundaries on expressing your opinions. Bloggers should be very careful because what they’re writing is on the internet and in the publics’ eye. Anything could happen.
